WHERE TIME slows
& STORY deepens

the blog

If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Queen Creek, Arizona, The Knotty Barn is one you’ll definitely want to check out.

Their team is exceptional from beginning to end, and one of my favorite things about this venue is that you have access to the entire venue for the whole day at no extra fee. SAY WHAT?! Having that extra time can make such a difference on your wedding day and gives you more room to enjoy the day without feeling rushed.

And if you’re an animal lover, you’re going to swoon over the animals right by the barn. I’m convinced they train them to pose for pictures because they are too good in front of the camera! They add such a fun and unique touch to the property and make for some pretty memorable wedding photos.

Another perk I love about The Knotty Barn is their list of preferred wedding vendors. They have vendors they know and trust to help bring your wedding day together. Many of these vendors are already used to working alongside one another, which makes the whole team feel incredibly cohesive. You would think they were all part of the same business!

As a wedding coordinator, I love when a venue has a team of trusted vendors because it can make the planning process feel so much easier for couples. You get professionals who already understand the venue, know how to work together, and are focused on making your wedding day run smoothly.

If you’re planning a wedding in Queen Creek or anywhere in the East Valley, The Knotty Barn is definitely worth adding to your venue tour list. It’s charming, unique, and has those little details that can make your wedding day feel like you.

The Knotty Barn: A Queen Creek Wedding Venue Worth Knowing

Moments I had to step in as wedding coordinator

Here are a couple of moments when I had to step in and make things happen behind the scenes.

When Family Has a Different Vision

Family can be such a meaningful part of a wedding day, but sometimes their vision doesn't perfectly match the couple's. At one wedding, the mother of the groom had a very different idea of how certain details should look. At one point, she even made it clear that she wasn't concerned with what the bride wanted. My job wasn't to take sides or create more tension. My job was to protect the bride's vision while also finding a way to honor the family member who wanted to be involved.

So, rather than letting the situation become a source of stress for the bride, I worked behind the scenes to find a solution that allowed both visions to come together. We ended up finding a way for the mother of the groom to have the elements she cared about without taking away from the bride's overall vision for the day.

And the best part? The bride didn't have to carry the weight of that conversation on her wedding day. That's one of the things I love most about coordination. Sometimes the best thing I can do for a couple is solve a problem without them ever knowing there was a problem to solve.

When the Decor Doesn't Arrive as Planned

Another time, a rental vendor arrived without enough candles for the decor. Candles may seem like a small detail, but when they're an important part of the tablescape, not having enough can completely change the look you've planned. There wasn't time to wait around and hope the problem would somehow fix itself, so I got to work.

I went to multiple stores looking for candles that would work with the existing decor and fit the overall look we were going for. It took some searching, but we found what we needed. The wedding went on exactly as planned, and the candles looked right where they needed to be. The couple didn't need to spend their wedding day worrying about where the missing candles were coming from. They got to enjoy their day, and I got to handle the problem.

That's What I Mean When I Say "I'll Handle It." Wedding coordination isn't just about keeping track of a timeline.
It's about being the person who can step in when something unexpected happens, make a decision, find a solution, and keep the day moving. Sometimes that means navigating family dynamics. Sometimes it means making an unexpected trip to the store. Sometimes it's something completely different.

You may never know about every little thing that happened behind the scenes, and honestly, that's kind of the point.

happens quietly in the background. Sometimes it's making a quick decision, sometimes it's finding a solution to a problem, and sometimes it's stepping into a situation so the couple never even knows there was an issue in the first place.

A lot of what we do
